Katie & Phil’s Wedding – 6/7/14

We were so thrilled to be a part of Katie and Phil’s wedding back in June. We love working with couples who exuberate big, fun, cheerful personalities and Katie and Phil were just that. The morning started at the Hotel Lincoln, a modern, boutique hotel right in the heart of the city. They stuck to true tradition by not seeing each other before the ceremony so we coordinated pick-ups from Chicago Trolley to avoid them running into each. The beautiful ceremony took place at St. Vincent de Paul Church, a Lincoln Park landmark. The bridal party then jetted off throughout the city with Nick Gerber from Orange 2 Photography for photos. They eventually made their way back just in time for the cocktail hour at the Chicago History Museum. The weather was our friend that day so the guests were able to enjoy cocktail hour outside on the patio. The room was beautifully decorated by the talented Stephanie Stopka with Flowers by Stem (side note: Stephanie, Katie and I all flag from the advertising world so it was fun keeping it in “the family”). The guests nibbled on delicious food from Food for Thought and danced the night away with jams from the Steve Edwards Orchestra. The wedding day was absolutely perfect and we were privileged to be a part of such a beautiful celebration.

Lauren & John’s Wedding – 5/31/14

It was an absolute delight working with Lauren and John on their wedding day. We were hired to provide rehearsal and day of coordination services for their wedding back in May and were so honored to be a part of their wedding. Leading up to the wedding, we did most of our consultations with Lauren and her mother Nancy. Never in our life had we met the absolute cutest and sweetest Mother/Daughter duo. Words cannot express their sincerity and wholesome kindness. The wedding day could not have been any more beautiful. May weddings in Illinois are risky because of the weather but this day couldn’t have been more perfect (high 70s from what I recall!!). The ceremony took place at their family church in Western Springs and the reception was at the LaGrange Country Club. The attention to detail was flawless. Nancy and Lauren worked very close with Nicole from Fleur Couture on the centerpieces and they were absolutely gorgeous. With the combination of gold chiavari chairs, floor length linens, candlelight and stunning centerpieces, the room was perfect. Thanks to the work of Audra (of An Affair to Remember), the place cards and table menus were created to fit along with their theme of simplistic, beautiful and classy. The day’s event was captured by RRG Weddings and the entertainment kept the guests dancing all night long (live band courtesy of Arlen Music – Skyline). Lauren and John were such a genuine couple and we wish them the absolute best in their life together. Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

Alishia & Paul’s Wedding at Cantigy Golf Club

We had the pleasure of working with Alishia and Paul on their wedding day as their Day of Coordinators. The ceremony was to take place in the Rose Garden at Cantigny Gardens. The day before the wedding, we arrived for the rehearsal and found that the Rose Garden was super soggy and wet from all the rain that had accumulated days before. Luckily, the wonderful staff at Cantigy upgraded our wedding to the East Lawn where everything was much dryer. That change of event, coupled with the warm sun that came out for our rehearsal, lifted everyone’s spirits and prepared us for a beautiful wedding day! And the day couldn’t have been more beautiful! The week of the wedding, we saw unusually cool temps for mid-May, but May 17th was the most perfect day ever (75 degrees and sunny!). The ceremony went flawlessly and the weather provided much efficient time for the bridal party to explore the gardens for pictures with Timothy Whaley & Associates. Alishia had purchased many of her wedding items on Etsy and we couldn’t wait to begin the set-up at Cantigny Golf in the Red Oak Room. With the help of florals from Town & Country, the room couldn’t have looked more beautiful! The guests were on their feet most of the night dancing with music provided by the Matt Stedman Band (highly recommend them!). It was such a joy seeing smiles on the faces of our bride and groom throughout the entire day and evening. All in all, we were very honored to be a part of this beautiful wedding!

Sophia & Todd’s Wedding – Pinstripes (Oak Brook)

We were hired 4 months before Sophia and Todd’s big day to serve as their day of coordinators for their upcoming wedding. It was such a delight getting to know Sophia over those 4 months and assisting her in finalizing her wedding details. She defined herself upon our initial meeting as having a true Type A personality and really saw herself having a hard time handing over the “day of” responsibilities to someone else. The more she got to know us though, it became easier for her to hand things over to us and I do believe (based on the WONDERFUL review she left us), that she was truly relaxed and incredibly stress free on her wedding day. This was our first event at Pinstripes in Oak Brook and we couldn’t have been more excited. The (amazingly warm 80 degree) day in April began at the Doubletree in Oak Brook for hair and make-up. The talented photographers with Della Terra Photography were on hand to capture the entire day’s events. Following the ceremony at a quaint church in Elmhurst, we had a vintage car from Classic Wedding Car waiting to sweep them off to Pinstripes. Sophia’s vision fit in perfectly with the ambiance of Pinstripes – romantic, rustic, simple. Together, she and Todd pulled together many DIY items for the reception including mason jars decorated with burlap to serve as the centerpieces. We filled those jars with large bunches of baby’s breath and set them upon round, rustic tree slices. The string lighting throughout the room was the perfect finishing touch! The guests mingled and ate on the balcony during cocktails and the DJs with A Post Production kept things exciting on the dance floor. Post dinner, the guests were treated to games of bowling and bocce ball. All in all, it was truly a beautiful wedding that we were honored to be a part of!

Patricia and Colin’s Wedding at the Danada House

We had the pleasure of working with Patricia and Colin over the course of a year to help plan all the details of their wedding. Besides being just incredibly nice people, they were so easy going and so effortless to work with. We settled upon the Danada House as the ceremony and reception location for a late March wedding. There were no doubts in their mind once they saw this venue – beautiful, open space with wall-to-wall windows. The day came together wonderfully based on a team effort with some amazing vendors. Colin Lyons captured the entire day’s event with his stunning photography. Vanilla Video was there to catch everything on film. MDM Entertainment provided the gorgeous uplighting around the room and monogram on the dance floor. When it came to floral, Phillips Flowers provided the décor for the ceremony and the groom’s Mom provided the centerpieces for the reception (stunning!!). The guests nibbled and dined on delicious food from My Chef catering along with dessert courtesy of La La Li Bakery. They danced the night away with entertainment with the ever energetic DJ’s with Toast and Jam. The little details are what really made the day special. Audra Byrne with An Affair to Remember worked with the couple on their place cards and table assignments. The tables were all named after significant places in their life. The place cards were held up by single origamis handmade by the bride’s father. Despite the chilly weather, the sun was shining all day and it was a perfect wedding to kick off our 2014 wedding season!

Unique Bouquets

Are you looking for that “Something Old”?  Does your mother or grandmother have a special collection of brooches and pins?  We love when our brides incorporate family heirlooms into their wedding, it adds such an emotional aspect.  An up and coming wedding trend right now are brooch bouquets.  They can be funky,  or they could be elegant.  Either way, you’re adding something so unique no one will have the same bouquet as you.  You can even add flowers if you still want the traditional look.  It doesn’t matter as long as you make it you!  So, hit up the flea markets and thrift stores and look through grandma’s jewelry boxes.  I’m sure you will find some hidden gems!

All you need are:

35-50 brooches
Wire
Floral tape
Ribbon
Flower accents (if desired)
A good manicure when done

Hotel Gift Bag Ideas

A big trend these days is providing your out-of-town guests with a “Welcome Gift Bag” when they check into their hotel room for your wedding weekend. We always suggest trying to customize the bags with the city the wedding is taking place in. It’s nice to provide your guests with something to drink, something to snack on and something for their sweet tooth! Below are some fun ideas for a Chicago-based gift bag!

Fall 2013 Wedding Trends

Fall is one of our favorite times of the year! Love the cooler weather, the color changes, fall festivals and of course…weddings!! This season’s trends are super cool! Expect to see a lot of lace (whether it’s the bridal gown or wedding invitations), rustic decor (think mason jars, vintage suitcases and barns), the Great Gatsby (mobster cars, champagne towers and headbands), romance (candles, lighting, golds) and fun colors like deep purple and mint! Loving all our couples getting married this fall/early spring who are incorporating some of these elements into their wedding!

Happy New Year!

As we move into the 2013 wedding planning season, we just wanted to say thank you once again to all our couples from ’12.  While we would love to get photos with all of our couples, it’s not always possible since a bride and groom have so many responsibilities on their wedding day, however, we tried our best and captured a few. Each wedding is unique in it’s own way which is why we love planning weddings so incredibly much! Cheers!

Candy Tables!

Candy tables are such a huge hit at weddings with your guests and we absolutely love setting these up for our couples. Not only do they serve as wedding favors but a fun alternative to a sweets table. You would be amazed at how many “adults” we see go back for seconds and thirds of those tasty tootsie rolls or hershey kisses!! Here are just some examples of candy tables we’ve set up for our past couples:
