Wedding Photo Must-Haves!!

One of the biggest things we stress at An Affair to Remember with our clients is that they must pull together a Must-Have photo list. We then work closely with your photographer on your wedding day to make sure all your necessary photos have been taken. How awful would it be to make it through your wedding and realize that you did not get a picture with your Sister….Best Friend….or favorite Cousin? What about the reaction moments such as seeing your Husband-to-Be for the first time. And lastly, those precious detail shots such as your Dress, Hair, Shoes, Centerpieces, Favors, etc…These are not things you, as the Bride and Groom, should be thinking about on your wedding day.

Here are some photos (courtesy of The Knot) to help inspire you!

Spring has arrived!!!

Although, it’s still very chilly in Chicago (was that snow on the ground I saw this morning??), we are looking forward to the days ahead when we can turn off the heat, open the windows and take in that fresh spring air! Until then, thought I would attach some spring wedding photos for inspiration!

Emergency Wedding Kit

Emergencies sometimes happen and what better way to be prepared is to have an “Emergency Wedding Kit” on hand the day of the wedding.  Here are a few things I suggest for you to have in your own kit.  Of course any well organized planner (like us at An Affair to Remember) will also carry their own kit!

  • Aspirin (or pain reliever of choice)
  • Band-Aids
  • Blister pads
  • Bottle of water
  • Chalk (to cover up any last minute smudges or smears on your wedding dress)
  • Baby powder (helps to soak up grease marks on satin dresses)
  • Clear nail polish (for stocking runs)
  • Nail polish (the color to match the brides)
  • French tips (stick on kind)
  • Corsage pins
  • Dental floss/toothpicks
  • Eye drops
  • Extra earring backs
  • Extra panty hose
  • Hair pins/ponytail holder and hair spray
  • Hand towelettes
  • Hem tape
  • fashion tape (for that large busted bridesmaid who just didn’t have time to have her dress altered)
  • Matches
  • Mini sewing kit
  • Safety pins
  • Scotch tape
  • Sedatives (don’t ask!)
  • Small folding scissors
  • Smelling salts (groomsmen are usually the ones that go down)
  • Spot remover
  • Static-cling spray
  • Straws (so the bride can stay hydrated without messing up her lipstick)
  • Tissues
  • Tweezers
  • Tampons or pads
  • Krazy Glue (for nails, shoe heels, decorations, etc)
  • Cash (because you never know)
  • Linen handkerchief
  • Makeup (for touch-ups)

Tips for Making your Wedding a Little Different:

  • Go with a cupcake tower vs. the traditional wedding cake
  • As the Bride, opt for colorful shoes instead of the basic white or ivory
  • Offer your guests a signature drink (perhaps from your fav vacation spot together)
  • Display a photo montage at your reception of your bridal party
  • Pick an unforgettable guest book idea
  • Add a cigar roller to your reception
  • Utilize props as centerpieces
  • Skip the traditional wedding favors and go with a stylish candy bar or sweet table

For the Groom…

I recently read an article on theknot.com about the top 11 wedding trends for 2011.  One stood out from all the rest, “Wedding Man Caves”*.  I love this idea!  Although some might think it’s wrong to pull the groom out from the wedding to indulge in a game of blackjack or Wii bowling while smoking stogies.  It’s his day too and I don’t know any groom that actually enjoys dancing to Lady Gaga.  Imagine how surprised he would be to walk into the reception room and see a “Grooms Corner”* setup just for him.  He’ll know how special he is to you.
